Bayer Leverkusen forward set to reject Man Utd move

Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Bayer Leverkusen’s star forward Victor Boniface in 2025. However, the Nigerian international is expected to decline a move to Old Trafford.

Boniface, 23, had a remarkable debut season with Leverkusen, delivering an impressive 31 goal contributions in 34 appearances across all competitions, helping the club secure their first-ever Bundesliga title.

Despite Leverkusen’s historic achievement, the striker has attracted significant transfer interest, with Chelsea being one of the clubs linked to him during the summer window. Although Boniface stayed at the BayArena, he continues to be on the radar of top European clubs, including Manchester United under Ruben Amorim.

According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, United have identified Boniface as a potential target to bolster their attack. This comes as the club considers moving on from Joshua Zirkzee, whose Premier League stint has been underwhelming. However, Leverkusen is likely to demand a substantial fee for the Nigerian forward.

Boniface, though, appears unlikely to pursue a move to the Premier League based on his past comments. In an interview with SportyTV in September, he expressed a preference for other European leagues.

Boniface shared: “Even before I dreamed of playing in Europe, I’ve always said I don’t particularly like the Premier League. I prefer Spanish and German football. I’m not ruling out joining a good team if the opportunity arises, but if I had to choose where to live and play, it would be Germany or Spain. Everyone has their preferences, and mine are these two leagues.”
